Responsible AI for Indian Legal Practice

AI That Courts — and Bar Councils — Can Trust

JurisYantra is built on a simple principle: AI is a powerful tool for advocates, not a replacement for legal judgment. Every feature is designed to keep the qualified advocate fully in control of all court-facing work.

Our Core Principle

The Lawyer is Always in the Driver's Seat

AI tools in legal practice have been met with appropriate caution from courts across India. Courts have raised concerns about AI-generated content being submitted without proper review, fabricated citations, and the erosion of advocate accountability.

JurisYantra is designed from the ground up to address these concerns. AI in our system is a structured assistant — it organises, calculates, flags, and suggests. But it does not draft submissions, certify documents, or make legal judgments. That is exclusively the advocate's domain.

Our Design Commitment

"No AI output in JurisYantra is court-ready by default. Every AI-generated suggestion, alert, or draft requires explicit advocate review, approval, and certification before it can be used in any official court communication."

Compliance Framework
Bar Council of India — Ethics Rules
All AI outputs require advocate supervision. No AI content is submitted to any court without lawyer verification and signature.
High Court AI Guidelines (Multiple HCs)
AI-generated content is clearly marked in the system. Advocates must explicitly confirm review before any AI-assisted content is used in filings.
No Autonomous Filings
JurisYantra has no feature that submits any document to any court or tribunal autonomously. All submissions require human action.
Citation Integrity
Precedents in JurisYantra are sourced from the system's verified database only. No AI hallucination of citations — all references are linked to real, stored records.
AI Boundaries

Crystal Clear: What AI Does and Doesn't Do

Every AI feature in JurisYantra is defined with explicit boundaries — we tell you exactly what the AI is doing and exactly where it stops.

 What AI Assists With
Limitation Period Calculation

Calculates limitation dates based on originating event dates and configured law. Flags approaching and expired limitations automatically. Calculations are displayed for advocate review — not acted upon autonomously.

Deadline Reminders & Alerts

Smart alerts for upcoming hearings, compliance deadlines, and limitation expiries. Shown as notifications within the system — the advocate decides what action to take.

Research Organisation

Organise precedents and statutes linked to legal issues. Surface relevant case law from your practice library. All citations are verified against stored records — no hallucinated references.

Document Organisation

Automatic categorisation and linking of documents to relevant cases, hearings, and parties. SHA-256 integrity verification. Duplicate detection.

Strategy Analysis Support

Assist in building strategy decision trees by suggesting connections between issues, evidence, and arguments based on existing case data. All strategy decisions are made by the advocate.

 What AI Does NOT Do
Draft Court Documents Autonomously

JurisYantra does not auto-generate petitions, applications, or any court-facing documents. All petition content is written by the advocate in the structured builder.

Submit Anything to Any Court

There are zero features in JurisYantra that submit any document, application, or communication to any court or tribunal. Every court submission is a manual, human action.

Provide Legal Advice

The system never recommends legal strategies, advises on merits, or suggests what arguments to make. Strategy tools help organise thinking — legal judgment is always the advocate's.

Hallucinate Citations or References

All precedent and statute references in JurisYantra are sourced from the verified internal database only. The system cannot and does not generate fictional case citations.

Access Confidential Data Without Authorisation

Confidential documents are role-gated. AI functions operate only within the scope of data visible to the authenticated user. No cross-team data access.

Court Guidelines

Built Around India's Evolving AI Guidelines

As courts across India issue guidance on AI in legal practice, JurisYantra is designed to comply with both the letter and spirit of every directive.

🏛️
Bar Council of India

BCI's professional conduct rules require advocates to take personal responsibility for all work done in their name. JurisYantra's design ensures every system action is traceable to a named advocate who authorised it.

Compliant
⚖️
High Court Guidelines on AI

Multiple High Courts have issued guidelines requiring that AI-generated content be disclosed and verified before filing. Our system marks AI-assisted content clearly and requires explicit advocate confirmation before any document export.

Compliant
📜
Supreme Court Technology Committee

The Supreme Court's technology initiatives emphasise that technology should enhance access to justice, not create new risks. JurisYantra improves case management without creating shortcuts that bypass advocate responsibility.

Aligned
🔍
Citation Verification Requirement

Courts have specifically flagged incidents of AI tools generating false case citations. In JurisYantra, every precedent shown is sourced from the verified database. There is no generative AI producing case names or citations.

Compliant
✍️
Drafting Responsibility

Courts expect that all documents filed by an advocate reflect that advocate's own work and judgment. JurisYantra's petition builder is a structured writing tool — the advocate writes every word, the system provides structure and linking.

Compliant
🔐
Data Protection & Privacy

Client data, case details, and documents are encrypted and team-isolated. Confidential evidence and documents are role-gated. The system is built to comply with India's data protection framework.

Compliant
AI Transparency

We Tell You Exactly What the AI Is Doing — Always

Unlike black-box AI tools, JurisYantra is fully transparent about every AI-assisted operation in the system. When the system calculates a limitation date, it shows you the formula. When it flags a deadline, it tells you why.

All AI calculations show their working — no black boxes
AI-assisted content is clearly labelled throughout the system
Every AI suggestion requires explicit advocate action to apply
Complete audit log of all AI-assisted actions by user and timestamp
Example: How AI Limitation Alert Works
Step 1 — System Calculates
Originating event: 12 March 2023
Cause: Breach of Contract (ICA s.37)
Limitation period: 3 years from breach date
Expiry: 12 March 2026
Step 2 — System Flags Alert
🔔 Alert sent 30 days before expiry with full calculation shown. Advocate sees: formula, source section, trigger date, and expiry date.
Step 3 — Advocate Decides & Acts
Advocate reviews the calculation, confirms or corrects it, and decides whether to file. The system takes no action whatsoever without the advocate's direction.
